QueerNC connects LGBTQ youth and allies in rural and urban areas of NC by providing a safe space both online and in person for teens to talk about their ideas, find resources, and get help with problems that they’re facing. We educate teens on current LGBTQ issues and empower youth to create change in their own communities. Our programs include monthly meetups in the Triangle area, discussion groups at the LGBT Center of Raleigh, and the weekend-long ASPYRE Leadership Camp every spring in Greensboro, NC. Check out our Programs page for more information.
Founded in June 2012 by youth, QueerNC was inspired by the need for an easily accessible program for LGBTQ youth across North Carolina, in addition to the difficulty of finding resources for support and meeting other LGBTQ teens. QueerNC is youth-led and adult-supported, meaning that all of our programming is designed and run by our Youth Leadership Team.
As well as our private forums, we have a private Facebook group that is meant to be an online safe space for youth. If you are 18 or under you can request to join by sending an email to [email protected].
